Securing new funding is a complex process which takes time and is not always successful. Ultimately, success comes down to having a solid plan and a strong proposal. How do you ensure that you create a strong proposal? What requirements must be met? What other factors, beyond the writing itself, come into play?
The course Proposal Writing takes you through the steps of writing a strong proposal and what you need to do so. You’ll focus on understanding the donor, strategically highlighting your strengths, and using language that resonates in a proposal. In four online sessions, you’ll work on making your proposal stand out to a donor.
After completing this course, you’ll have the knowledge and skills to write strong proposals and increase your chances of securing new funding.

- key components of a strong proposal
- the writing process from idea to submission
- tips for improving your writing style and making your proposal stand out
After completing the course you will have the following knowledge and skills
- insight into how project proposals are evaluated by clients or funders
- understanding of the donor funding cycle
- guidelines for aligning your own expectations with those of the donor
- creating a logically structured proposal in accordance with the donor’s requirements
- a framework for a (draft) proposal that can serve as the basis for an actual submission
Programma
Program
The Blue Deal has, in collaboration with MDF, carefully put together a varied program for you. The content is well-tailored, and there is plenty of opportunity to discuss your own challenges, experiences, and examples. The course Proposal Writing consists of four half-day sessions, which will take place online.
After registration, you will receive the links to the digital learning environment in a timely manner.
Timetable
The four online sessions will take place in the afternoon. The first three will take place from 14.00-16.30 CEST, and the last from 15.00 – 16.00 CEST.
Own contribution
As part of the course, you are expected to draft a concrete proposal that you can submit later. Start thinking about where you would like to submit a proposal and gather relevant information on that topic. It is also helpful to prepare real-world experiences and challenges so that we can learn from one another.
Tijdsinvestering
The total course time will be around 10 weeks. Every meeting takes – apart from participation – around 1 hour of selfstudy.

The course Proposal Writing is designed for project leaders and project members of the Blue Deal partnerships who wish to improve their skills in writing proposals and secure funding.

Each Blue Deal partnership may send two participants. Please coordinate internally with the project leader before registering for this course.
