‘Water innovation requires utility professionals trained in digital technology and methods’
‘Providing clean drinking water at customer’s taps, keeping sources of water safe from pollution, and minimising water losses are some of the great achievement by water utilities in the Netherlands. This is particularly remarkable when we consider how densely populated the country is and how water management has become highly complex due to variable and uncertain operating conditions.
The key development in the water industry is the acceleration of digital technology and innovation, with its associated challenges and opportunities. This requires specialist training to take advantage of more data collected through widespread sensing, to better understand the potential of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and support decisions that lead to a more sustainable future.’
